The Beauty Secret

Whether it is that dollop of honey to sweeten up your tea or that drizzle of honey on your corn bread muffin, honey seems to be the perfect cherry on top to complete the culinary experience. And guess what, there is more that honey can do to make life that much better. Honey is a natural humectant, which basically means it has the ability to derive moisture from the air and retain it; while applied on the skin, it helps supply moisture into the skin. This is why honey is often known as a moisturizer, even in baking.

Another thing worth noting about honey is the high content of nutrients, antioxidants and healing properties. In some cases, it has been known to be effective in fighting aging. Because it is loaded with all this goodness, it is very useful for moisturizing and rejuvenating the skin. There are many uses for honey in creating your own natural skin care products, some of them include facial masks, exfoliator, acne treatment and even scar fader. Did I mention it combats aging?

Over the last decade, more people are becoming more health-literate, thus the idea of making homemade skin care products from natural ingredients has been gaining momentum since its emergence on the Internet; it is now a common subject featured in magazines and YouTube videos. Making your own skin care products can flush out a lot of unnecessary chemicals from your life that may be harmful to your health over a long period of time. You can have the peace of mind knowing exactly what ingredients made up the product you put on your face. It is definitely an overwhelming win.

Another benefit is undoubtedly the cost-friendly nature of homemade skin care products. You can cut down at least eighty to ninety percent of the cost, and to put it in practical terms, a few months of saving the cost may earn you a trip to the spa. I’ll take that, thank you very much.
