Where to Stay

Whether you are a couple or a family, The Beach Club is a resort that could fit your needs. The resort offers condos and cottages with a small village of shopping, golf, arcade and lawn games available. It sits right on the beach with pools, playgrounds and walking trails. If you are a couple, Courtyard by Marriott Gulf Shores is another option. They offer beach access, pools, golf, nature trails and a lot of outdoor water and sports activities.  If you are on a family vacation, Gulf Shores Plantation is a very popular resort. There are a variety of condos and cottages with numerous pools, whirlpools, golf and beach areas.

What to Do

There are relaxing activities as well as really active ones. The Adventure Center offers the Hummingbird Ziplines that consist of six ziplines covering a mile of land with four ziplines taking you over Lake Shelby offering various views of the area. Typical water sports available include kayaking, jetskiing, parasailing and paddleboarding. More relaxing activities include dolphin dinner cruises, sailing cruises, sea turtle viewing and nature trails, such as Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail. For kids, Waterville USA is a water and amusement park that features the Dune Racer waterslide among many other rides. If you are in the mood to take a drive, you can head to the ferris wheel at The Wharf in Orange Beach. It is over 112 feet tall, making it the largest ferris wheel in the southeast.


Where to Eat

There is plenty of fresh seafood available at a number of restaurants. There are also other typical choices such as steaks, sandwiches, burgers, Asian, Mediterranean, Italian and Mexican. Use the “Eat Your Way Around the Beach” restaurant directory to find what best fits your taste at King Neptune’s Seafood Restaurant, Cosmos Restaurant and Bar and Tin Top Restaurant are examples of local seafood places.
