DIY Pillow Wrap

It’s been a little over six months since I moved into my current house. I love it here. I bought a couch after I moved in, and it really felt like it was custom made for me. I sat down, and that was it. Love at first sit. Roomy, comfortable, and stylish, everything I wanted. Delivery day, I was so excited, time passed unbearably slow. I couldn’t wait to go home after work to welcome my couch into its new home. The homecoming turned out to be everything I wanted. Except for one pair of accessory pillows.

They are not terrible looking by any means, but certainly not my style. I bought a couple new pillows with simple brown stripes on a white background to go with the more acceptable pair and hid the ones I disliked. Today is the day they will finally come out of hiding. Because I am going to give them a total makeover by wrapping them with these adorable cotton fabrics I discovered in a fabric store.

I was stoked when I saw these vintage styled fabrics with one of my favorite color pairings - navy blue and mustard yellow. These colors would go really well with my dark brown couch. The moment I laid eyes on them, I knew my fabric hunt had come an end. These pillow wraps are so easy to make. All you need is fabric and some safety pins. This is my kind of project--classy and easy. If you are interested in making your own, here are the steps:

Step 1: Lay out the fabric and position the pillow in the center of it.

Step 2: Fold the bottom half of the fabric upward and pull tight.

Step 3: Fold the top half of the fabric downward and tuck in the edge. (Secure with safety pins if desired.)

Step 4: Fold in the top and bottom corners of each horizontal end to form a sharp edge, then fold inside.

Step 5: Tie a knot and tuck in the excess fabric to form a bun in the middle.

Here is the final product. My heart is so, full just looking at the new style these pillow wraps brought to not only my couch but my entire home as well.
